Base Flow assisted the Connecticut River Conservancy, American Rivers and Woodsville Power & Light with developing management alternatives for the Wild Ammonoosuc Dam located in Landff, New Hampshire. An alternatives analysis considering rehabilitation of the dam and dam removal was completed. The dam and associated infrastructure previously served as a water supply; rehabilitation for supply purposes would require installation of approximately 3.5 miles of water main and dam improvements. Dam removal would include removal of all structures, limited impounded sediment removal and stabilization of river banks. Opinions of probable construction costs for each alternative were used to support management decisions. The study included in-field data collection, a geomorphic assessment and development of conceptual designs. This conceptual plan is pending USFS approval and project partners are pursing funding for final design.
