Dam Removal: Revitalizing New England's Rivers
The majority of dams in our region have outlived their original purpose and continue to disrupt numerous fluvial and ecological processes. Dam removal typically leads to restoration of natural river flow, sediment transport and fish passage, and often results in reconnection of historical habitats, an increase in biodiversity and improvements in water quality. Dam removal is a core service at Base Flow and our competencies span initial grant support through construction oversight and contract closeout.
